Current events in the ashram

A typical day at the ashram began at 6 clock with the one-hour dynamic meditation. At 8 clock Bhagwan held a public lecture in the so-called „Buddha Hall“.

By 1981, this lecture series alternated in Hindi and English on a monthly basis. Many of these lectures were held spontaneously comments on texts from various spiritual traditions, while in others he answered questions from visitors and students. The speeches were peppered with jokes, anecdotes and provocative remarks, which regularly provoked outbursts of levity his devoted audience. During the day there were a variety of meditations and therapies, has been the intensity of the spiritual energy of Bhagwan’s „Buddha field“ attributed.

In the evening there was Darshan, which led Bhagwan personal interviews with small numbers of individual supporters and visitors. Occasion for a darshan was usually the arrival of a student at the ashram and his imminent departure, or even a particularly important problem, which would discuss the sannyasin personally with Bhagwan. Four days of the year were particularly celebrated: Bhagwan –  Day of Enlightenment (March 21) and his birthday (December 11) and Guru Purnima, a full moon, their worship of the Indian spiritual master, and Mahaparinirvana, the day on which all enlightened beings is thought . For visitors staying in Poona was generally intense, carnival-like experience, regardless of whether they ultimately „took sannyas“ or not. The ashram, the description of a student, was „an amusement park and a lunatic asylum, a House of Pleasure and a temple.

Bhagwan’s teachings emphasized spontaneity, but the ashram was not free from rules.

Guards stood at the entrance, smoking and drugs were banned, and certain parts of the site such as Lao Tzu House, where Bhagwan had his studio, were only accessible to privileged students.

Who would give a lecture in the Buddha Hall („let’s shoes and understanding outside please“, it said on the sign at the entrance), had to first undergo a sniff test, Bhagwan was allergic to shampoos and cosmetic products and those that smelt of those which access was denied.

< ° >The cyclone is the center„In the cyclone, there is no center of the cyclone is the center. We have a chronic habit of splitting all the things that we have a chronic habit of thinking in dualities: God and the devil, body and soul, the low and the higher, the good and evil. This habit is extremely persistent, and now it is the center of the cyclone.Let me out there: The cyclone is the center and there is no other center. Once you understand this unity of life, then disappears all tension, anxiety and anguish. The fear is caused because you are getting everything zerteilst. Through this division you will gepalten by this division you will be schizophrenic. Now you think that you’ll find yourself on the surface – the Cyclone – and have lost your center, so now you have to find the center.

This is the old habit of thinking in dualities. , The center of the cyclone and is‘ a new language, but the habit is very old, the figure is very old. It’s always like, where you are, you’re not right, you should be somewhere else.

My whole emphasis is that what is right. There is no other, right. ‚You need to go anywhere. This is the only life there is, the only dance there is. Only then can you be spontaneous, really spontaneous. “
